Abstract

Abstract : The purpose of this research is to know how the application of Mind Mapping method to increase student participation and mastery of siawa in IPS material in class XI SMA PGRI 2
Palangka Raya. This research is a classroom action research with method of kemmis and taggart which is done in two cycles, each end of the cycle is carried out assessment to find out whether
or not there is an increase in student participation in social studies and student mastery of IPS materials. Measures given in the form of application of Mind Mapping model as an effort to
improve learning social studies and increase student participation and mastery of IPS materials. The results showed that the method of learning Mind Mapping, managed to increase student
participation and material satisfaction IPS. This is shown by increasing student activity. Students have the courage to ask questions, answer questions, discuss and cooperate with fellow group
members to make Mind Mapping, increase mastery of IPS material can be seen from the acquisition of students before the action is given, ie, 60, to 65 in cycle I. Capaiaan mastery the
material before the action was given as much as 16 students (66.65%) increased to 17 students (70.83%), on the second cycle the average value increased to 70 and students who have achieved mastery of 20 students (83.33%) on the final test of the average cycle of the students score becomes 77.50, students who have reached completeness as many as 21 students (87.50%). Mind Mapping Method which in variation with other methods can improve the mastery of IPS materials in grade XI SMA PGRI 2 Palangka Raya , because learning with Mind Mapping
method can create an active, creative, and fun learning atmosphere.
