PENGGUNAAN METODE OUTDOOR STUDY DAN METODE KONVENSIONAL DENGAN MEDIA SLIDE POWER POINT PADA MATA PELAJARAN GEOGRAFI

Abstract

Based on the observation, the environment around SMA PGRI 2 Palangka Raya is very suitable to be used as a learning resource. However, teachers still use the conventional method
that is lecture method with power point slide, and the students look less interested in following the learning activities. The potential of nature contained surroundings the school
that can be used as a source of learning, among others, parks, rice fields, small rivers and landfills. This study aims to determine differences in student learning outcomes between
using outdoor study learning methods and conventional methods using power point slides. This study uses quantitative approach of experimental type with pre-test-post-test control
group design. Population in this research is all class XI and XII SMA PGRI 2 Palangka Raya academic year 2016/2017. The sampling technique using random sampling produces class XI
as the experimental class and class XII as the control class. Data collection methods in this study are documentation, tests and questionnaires. Method of data analysis using t-test to
know the difference of result between experiment class student and control. Based on t-test with significance level 5% and dk (64) obtained (5,952)> (2,033) which showed there is
significant difference of learning result between learning using outdoor study method and conventional method using power point slides. This is because in the study of outdoor study,
students observed the object that learned directly so that the concept of understanding more easily. In contrast learning using conventional methods use a slide of power point, where the
observation activities performed using images that are displayed through a slide of power point, they are only required to understand, so gradually the understanding obtained will be
lost. The conclusion in this study is the result of student learning in the experimental class using outdoor study method is better than the learning result in the control class using conventional method.
